I really was hoping that the bureau would turn out to be something like a reverse Men In Black, where an alien race finally inhabits the universe. Not the case here. How they get those super powers to move objects. Are they aliens from the future? Corporate henchmen? The Illuminati? Let me spoil it - they are some kind of angels. Just supernatural beings that are able to interact with humans. Far better films have been made dozens and dozens of times about angels. Mr. Destiny (1990) with Michael Caine and Jim Belushi was a better movie that this.
It's not a good action thriller. Don't go to this looking for action. It's more romance. As a romance, it failed miserably for my tastes. I didn't find the Matt Damon - Emily Blunt relationship to be believable. Damon is playing this rising star politician who falls for some random woman he meets in a hotel. When he loses contact with her, he becomes so desperate to find her that he rides the same bus at the same time for 3 years.
Come on! That's so lame! I didn't believe that at all. I just wanted to roll my eyes. The romance in The Tourist was more believable than this.
My advice is to just watch the trailer because all the good and exciting parts are in it. It really gives away almost the whole movie and tells you pretty much the whole thing. Seriously.
Now playing in theaters the United States.
My rating: D. Not recommended.
